General Information

You can find details of our branch opening hours via our website ‘find us’ pages. Click on the relevant location for directions, opening hours & facilities available at that site. If you would like to arrange a viewing of a car outside of these hours we can usually accommodate as long as you book an appointment in advance. Public and Bank Holidays may differ so please check with your local branch.

Buying a Car

Vehicle Handover / Collecting your car

Typically, please allow 7-10 working days to prepare a stock vehicle. If you are ordering a new vehicle from the factory this could vary between 2 weeks to 16 weeks, depending on stock availability. When you order your vehicle, we will be able to give you a more indicative time scale.
Excluding car purchases on finance agreements, our preferred method of payment is either debit card, or alternatively by bankers draft or building society cheque (payable to T W White & Sons Ltd). For legal reasons we can only accept £10,000 in cash and only up to £1000 on credit card (after this a 2.5% charge applies).
If you are trading in your current vehicle, please remember to bring the following:
  • Registration document (V5)
  • MOT Certificate (if applicable) and Service History.
  • Spare keys (if applicable)
  • Locking wheel nuts
  • Radio keys
  • Applicable radio codes
and any other relevant documentation relating to the vehicle
If you are purchasing a new vehicle that requires registering we will need the following documentation:
  • An original and current insurance certificate or cover note 5 days prior to the delivery date
Prior to delivery we will also send you two forms, please check that all the details are correct, sign and date the forms, and return one copy to us.
Transferring personalised number plates is a straightforward process and we will be more than happy to give you guidance on how to organise this. If you would like us to do the whole process on your behalf we will be more than happy, but we do charge an administration fee.

Owning a Car

Most finance agreements can be ended early if you would like to upgrade your car to a new one or immediately settle the remaining balance. Some finance companies may charge a small fee to do this which will be detailed in your terms and conditions, and usually all outstanding finance will need to be settled. If you would like us to help organise this for you please ask one of our sales team.
If you want to sell your car back to us in part-exchange, or simply sell it back to us we will be more than happy to give you a valuation. We source many of our used cars from our new and existing customers. Please speak to one of our sales team for more information. Did you know we can also help prepare your car if you are going to sell it privately by carrying out a quick health check? For more information please speak to a member of our aftersales team.
Yes, you can transfer the warranty to a new owner. There is an admin fee charged by the warranty company which is £25 regardless of the length of term remaining.
If you buy your car privately, due to the data protection act we are unable to supply such information stored on our database without written consent from the customer who originally bought the car from us.

Car Servicing

We can service any make or model and have a full range of aftersales facilities for service and MOT testing, including a dedicated in-house Accident Repair Centre. For more information on car servicing with T W White & Sons, including booking your car in online visit here.
We ask that cars are dropped off between 8-9am, unless specified otherwise. If you prefer, we will try to accommodate, but please ask the service team in advance.
Our workshop is open from 8:30am-5:30pm and each technician will have around 5-8 jobs each to complete. All jobs will be finished by 5:30pm, however one of our service team will call as soon as your car is ready for collection. If you need any special arrangements making please let the service team know at the time of booking, and we will do our best to accommodate.

Loan Cars

Yes, but please book in advance as they can become booked up.
The loan cars we provide are completely free as part of our commitment to outstanding customer service. All we ask is that our car is fully comprehensively insured against any damage. You can arrange this with your insurer, or we can organise cover on the day for a small admin fee of between £12 – 15.
We have a set number of vehicles which are allocated on the day. Our vehicles range in size but most are small hatchbacks. If you have a preference on transmission please specify what you are able to drive (manual or auto) at the time of booking, and we will try our best to accommodate
If you provide us with advance notice we will often be able to provide you with one of our sales demonstrators as a loan car while your car is in the workshop. We can also work out a cost-to-change figure for you.
You will need to bring along your driving licence on the day, and we will need you to sign a declaration form on the day to confirm the car you’re taking and the current mileage. We would also ask that you please bring the vehicle back as you found it, with the same level of fuel.
We only ask that you replace the fuel you have used. Alternatively, if you don’t get a chance to do this we can add the cost to your invoice.
