The number one cause of car breakdowns during the winter months are battery faults. There are several reasons for this, and it is usually a couple of factors together that cause the battery to die. Firstly, power output drops, and then the ability to accept a charge drops – so the battery doesn’t recharge as quickly when you are driving. Equally the demands placed on the battery in winter increase 0 with lights, blowers, wipers, heated seats, heated windscreens to name a few. A free winter health check includes a visual check of the battery to help ascertain condition, and our technicians will advise replacement if it is needed helping to minimise the chance of your battery letting you down at the most inconvenient time!

The second cause of car breakdowns is tyre problems. Our winter health check includes checking tyre pressure and condition, including tyre tread and wear. This can help minimise unforeseen issues – especially in cold, icy weather.
