Suzuki S-Cross concept unveiled

The Suzuki S-Cross concept was revealed at last week’s 2012 Paris Motor Show, previewing an all-new crossover model from the Japanese brand.

The vibrant and attractive new vehicle will be the first in an ambitious programme of annual vehicle launches in Europe, starting with the S-Cross next year. Suzuki fans, if you’ve been craving a sleek coupe-like SUV, here is your answer.

The S in the new car’s name is important too – suave, stylish and sophisticated are all characteristics embodied by the Suzuki S-Cross, which according to Suzuki has been designed primarily for comfort.

The mid-size crossover segment is a competitive marketplace, but with a strong combination of effortless, sharp looks, practicality and comfort, and decent efficiency the S-Cross is sure to be a winner with potential buyers when it goes on sale next year.

The on-road performance will be strong as well, drawing on the excellent handling and performance of the Suzuki Swift, Suzuki SX4 and Suzuki Kizashi models in marque’s strong range.

With a four-wheel drive system developed and honed through years of evolution through the brand’s off-road and 4×4 models, the Suzuki S-Cross will boast plenty of grip for when you want a bit of fun, but also for when traction on slippery surfaces is paramount, keeping you and your occupants safe.

The Suzuki S-Cross will help you get the most out of your busy lifestyle, too – whether that’s carrying children safely and in plenty of space, going away for long weekend trips, sporty, involving driving or efficiency-focused fuel saving when behind the wheel, the S-Cross has the ability to deliver all.

And the “Emotion x Quality x Aerodynamics” Suzuki told us about before the car was unveiled at the show?

The dynamic lines running from the front bumper to the rear of the body, the chromed features and the sharp LED headlamps and taillights embody the emotion, while the other two qualities are plain to see.

The coupe-like profile and honed surfaces prove the Suzuki S-Cross’ cutting-edge aerodynamics leading to brilliant fuel economy, while the treatment and intricate forming of the panels and the interior materials highlight Suzuki means business with its new crossover.

Add to that the robustness, toughness and rigidity of the striking 20-inch alloy wheels and the chunky front skid plate and body mouldings, and we reckon the S-Cross will take the sector by storm.

It’s certainly one vehicle we can’t wait to get behind the wheel of. Expect more details on engine options and pricing closer to the vehicle’s launch next year.
