Suzuki Grand Vitara updated for 2013

The Suzuki Grand Vitara has been updated for the 2013 model year, with a fresh new design, an upgraded interior and even better levels of standard-fit equipment.

Suzuki‘s latest Grand Vitara gets a revised front bumper and grille design (with integrated front fog lamps for SZ4 and SZ5 trim levels), a choice of new 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels styles and an exclusive new colour: Burnished Bronze Pearl.

The visual changes sharpen up the already attractive off-roader, helped by a chunky, robust door-mounted spare wheel.

The revised Suzuki Grand Vitara features a number of improvements inside, too. Three-door SZ3 and SZ4 models get upgraded upholstery, boasting extra quality, while the five-door SZ4 variant also gets the same treatment.

Leather seats are still standard on five-door SZ5 Grand Vitara variants, offering supreme comfort and luxury.

This top-spec model also now receives an integrated 6.1-inch touchscreen satellite navigation system as standard, including Bluetooth, voice recognition and music streaming capability, as well as connectivity for multi-media devices, such as MP3 players and smartphones loaded with music.

Depending on engine choice, Suzuki Grand Vitara SZ4 models also now get a single-shot CD player instead of a six-disc changer, leather steering wheel and cruise control, and improved halogen headlights.

The engine line-up remains the same, albeit with a few minor changes. Opt for the updated three-door Suzuki Grand Vitara and you can choose between a 106hp 1.6-litre or 166hp 2.4-litrte petrol engine – the former mated to Suzuki’s five-speed manual transmission, the latter with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.

If the practicality afforded by the larger five-door Grand Vitara is more suited to your needs, you can choose between the same 2.4-litre petrol or Suzuki’s 129hp 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine, coupled to its five-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drive system.

The petrol’s performance is strong – with a best 0-62mph time of 11.2 seconds – and will return 32.1mpg combined. The diesel offers 41.5mpg combined with 179g/km CO2 emissions, as well as completing the 0-62mph sprint in 13.2 seconds and offering that go-anywhere, sure-footedness that the all-wheel drive system brings.

Best of all, despite the upgrades, pricing remains unchanged for most variants. The range still begins at £15,995 for the entry-level three-door 1.6 SZ3, rising to £23,875 for the top spec five-door 1.9 turbodiesel SZ5 variant – an increase of only £600 reflecting the addition of the versatile integrated sat nav system.

Customers will benefit from a £395 saving on the five-door 2.4 SZ4 model too, at £18,895.
