Mazda has revealed prices for the dramatic new Mazda 6 model will start from under £20,000 when it goes on sale in January 2013.
The new range of sporting saloon and Tourer estate versions start from just £19,595 for the 145hp 2.0 SE saloon model – and that’s despite even this car coming with 17-inch alloys, rear LED lights, cruise control, Bluetooth and in-dash colour touchscreen.
As the new SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre petrol engine emits just 129g/km CO2, this also means the new Mazda 6 comes with extremely low tax rates, too. A 20% tax payer will pay just £52 a month in Benefit In Kind if they choose the sleek new Mazda 6 as their next company car.
Mazda also offers an SE-L model, costing from £20,395. To SE spec, this adds rain-sensing headlights, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, folding door mirrors and rear privacy glass
The Mazda 6 Sport line tops the range. This costs from £23,515 in high-performance SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre 165hp guise, and has a standard spec list including Bi-xenon headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, reversing camera, electric leather seats and a high-output Bose Centerpoint stereo with an amazing 11 speakers.
Tourer models cost just £870 more – that’s far less than the premium for load-lugging estates rival brands charge. This model offers an ample 522-litre boot even with the seats up: with them down, the load length stretches to nearly 1.9 metres.
From April 2013, Mazda will also roll out the new SKYACTIV-D 2.2-litre turbodiesel Mazda 6 models, in either 150hp or 175hp guise. These will cost from £21,795 for a 2.2 SKYACTIV-D 150 SE saloon – and this bargain price, combined with CO2 emissions of just 108g/km, will ensure company car drivers enjoy extremely advantageous Benefit In Kind tax rates.
Again, an SE Nav model with standard sat nav costs just £500 more, and this option is also offered on SE-L and Sport models too.
T W White dealers will be able to advise on other options too, including standard metallic and s special ‘Soul Red Metallic’ colour, plus light stone leather, a safety pack and Mazda’s innovative Radar Cruise Control.
Mazda’s new line-up of Mazda 6 models is certainly compelling, and the blend of competitive prices and very low CO2 emissions mean many are already finding the new executive car has plenty of appeal.
