Mazda CX-5 Crossover

Friday Focus: Mazda set to maximise growth in 2013 with awesome new product range

Buoyed by the success of its new Skyactiv range of models – the stunning Mazda CX5 crossover and the sporty, refined and efficient Mazda 6 – the Japanese firm is targeting big numbers in 2013, aiming to increase sales by 20%.

It’s not like it had a poor year in 2012, either. The carmaker shifted 26,200 vehicles last year, but is aiming to sell closer to 31,500 cars in the UK during 2013.

That might sound like an ambitious target, but with the amazing product range Mazda has on offer, it’s an entirely realistic goal.

Mazda UK Managing Director, Jeremy Thomson:

“While a 20 percent growth might sound ambitious, it is all growth from our new generation cars.

“Our network is reporting exceptionally strong interest in our cars and customer offers. Independent surveys and data from our media partners backs that up and order take is strong.”

With the introduction of Mazda’s new Skyactiv vehicle architecture – boasting a lightweight but superbly safe construction from high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels, helping safety, performance and efficiency – the firm is now leading its class with every new generation Mazda model.

Add to that an all-new Mazda 3 packed full of Skyactiv technology is on its way soon and the range looks set to be strengthened even further.

Here and now though, the Mazda CX5 and Mazda 6 have been receiving a lot of attention – and rightly so.

The CX5 won What Car? magazine’s Green SUV award thanks to its superb efficiency, while the brand also received the Ultra-Low-Carbon Award 2013 for its Skyactiv technology.

The Mazda 6 has been racking up the accolades, too, thanks to its superbly stylish but functional design both inside and out. It recently won a red dot design award and on top of that has just been named one of the ’10 best interiors’ by American organisation WardsAuto.

Don’t just take our word for it. If you’ve got a spare half an hour this weekend – and even if you might not be in the market for a new car right now – come down to one of our Mazda showrooms in Bookham, Surrey, or Orpington, Kent to experience the vehicles for yourself.
