Mazda CX5 and MX5 win at 2017 Scottish car of the year

Double award for Mazda at 2017 Scottish Car of the Year

It’s been a great year for Mazda, with two stunning cars being introduced into their model line-up, the sleek Mazda MX-5 RF and the sophisticated all-new Mazda CX-5.  And as if we needed further proof of how fantastic these two cars are, they have both been officially recognised at the 2017 Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

All-new Mazda CX-5 snags Best Crossover

all-new Mazda CX5

The all-new CX-5 marks a transition towards Mazda’s next-generation vehicles. From it’s more mature and sophisticated design language to its engineering precision, the CX-5 embodies Mazda’s KODO: Soul of Motion design language and Jinba Ittai design philosophy. And it’s for exactly these reasons that it has been awarded the Best Crossover title at the 2017 Scottish Car of the Year awards.  When commenting on Mazda’s victory in this highly competitive segment, Association of Scottish Motoring Writers President Stephen Park stated, “the last twelve months has seen a transformation at the top of the crossover class with major revamps of old favourites and all-new models arriving, but ultimately Mazda came out on top thanks to a luxurious makeover of a car already renowned for fantastic driving dynamics and excellent efficiency.”

Mazda MX-5 RF named Best Drop Top

Mazda MX5 RF

The Mazda MX-5 is no stranger to success.  It continues to be the best-selling two-seater convertible in history, hitting the one million sales mark in April 2016.  And the uniquely styled MX-5 RF is adding to the MX-5 long list of awards with the Best Drop Top award from the 2017 Scottish Car of the Year.  Beyond its distinctive styling and exciting drive, the Mazda MX-5 RF was crowned Best Drop Top because of its versatility and affordability.  Association of Scottish Motoring Writers President Stephen Park had this to say about the MX-5 RF’s victory, “our weather may not seem best for convertibles, but Scottish drivers love wind in the hair motoring and that’s why cabriolets and roadsters continue to sell well.  This year’s winner, however, provides a package for all seasons combined with sensible pricing and supreme driving enjoyment.”

It’s a great start to the awards season for Mazda, and I’m sure not the last post we’ll be making to celebrate their success.  To find out more about the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda MX-5 RF, visit our website.
