The Mazda CX5 crossover is to boost the firm’s corporate sales and become a favourite with the lease market, according to fleet managers.
At the recent UK launch of the innovative new crossover, representatives from contract hire and leasing companies gave the Mazda CX5 the thumbs up for its superb SKYACTIV technology. This is key to its unique and frugal fuel sipping ability, as well as its efficient emissions performance.
Mazda’s Skyactiv technology has its roots in three key attributes – economy, safety and performance – all of which are highly prized by the fleet world.
Economy and efficiency go hand in hand, and the less fuel you can use the less harmful gasses an engine will produce. With company car tax rates calculated on CO2 emissions, the Mazda’s lowly 119g/km CO2 output equates to a BiK rate of just 13 per cent. It’s thus not hard to see why it’s set to become a popular choice with company car users.
It’s safe too, an important consideration for fleet managers. Thanks to the high-tensile steel used in the Mazda CX5’s construction designed to channel energy around the passenger cell, the Mazda CX5 receives a full five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Finally, with 175bhp from the 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine there’s plenty of performance to call upon, with 0-62mph coming up in 8.8 seconds. Thanks to its lightweight construction helping to boost efficiency, it also means a prodigious turn of speed and assured handling, with less weight to stop and turn.
According to Malcolm Hird, National Field Services Manager in charge of many corporate fleets, “Today’s company car drivers are looking for a vehicle that has load-carrying capability but is not too large, is practical and stylish. They are also conscious of their benefit-in-kind tax bill and fuel costs and the CX-5 delivers.
“There is a uniqueness about the Mazda CX5 and I thought the 2.0-litre petrol engine was perfectly balanced, while the 2.2-litre diesel was lively and responsive. The CX5 would earn a place on our fleet.”
With a spacious and premium cabin, great flexibility and class-leading efficiency and performance, it’s easy to see why the Mazda CX5 is rapidly becoming the fleet market’s crossover vehicle of choice. Business users, find out more at T W White’s Mazda showroom in Bookham, Surrey and Orpington, Kent
