Mazda has released the Mazda 6 Venture Edition, a new version of its family-favourite hatchback and estate model.
The latest offering from the Japanese manufacturer is based on the Mazda 6’s mid-grade TS2 trim level – that means automatic headlights and wipers, parking sensors all round, cruise control and dual-zone climate control all come fitted as standard.
The Mazda 6 Venture Edition boasts a great list of upgraded kit on top of the TS2 trim’s generous specification – satellite navigation comes fitted as standard, while buyers are also treated to integrated Bluetooth and half-leather heated front seats.
Outside, Mazda has treated the car to a subtle makeover, adding 17-inch gunmetal alloys, a sports front grille, privacy glass and a unique colour for this version – Dolphin Grey Mica. Other colours are also available.
The Mazda 6 special edition vehicle comes in both five-door hatchback and estate body styles, with a choice of two engines – a 161bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel or a 153bhp 2.0-litre petrol unit.
Both engines offer good performance and efficiency. The 2.2-litre diesel reaches 62mph from rest in 9.2 seconds and returns 53.3mpg combined with 140g/km CO2 emissions – that means £120 road tax per year.
The Mazda 6 2.0-litre petrol completes 0-62mph in 10.3 seconds and returns 40.9mpg combined with 159g/km CO2 emissions (£170 annual road tax).
Prices start at £21,000 for the petrol hatchback and rise to £22,965 for the diesel estate. This represents a premium of between £340 and £480 over the car it’s based on. With all that equipment as standard, it’s a great deal.
Offering premium style and high-tech equipment at an affordable price, it’s obvious that the Mazda 6 Venture Edition is far from a few badges and a lick of paint.
Mazda is producing just 257 examples of the special edition family car, so if you want to take advantage of the excellent value for money, head on over to T W White’s Mazda showroom in Bookham, Surrey and Orpington, Kent soon.
