Meet the New Generation Hyundai i10

The New Generation Hyundai i10

Launched in January 2014, the New Generation Hyundai i10 is an award winning supermini packed full of exciting features. It’s a refined, sharp-looking five-door city car that will definitely turn heads around your local town centre. Compact and efficient, the New Generation Hyundai i10 has a sleek design with a spacious, comfortable interior and superb drive quality. Plus, the New Generation Hyundai i10 comes complete with Hyundai’s marketing leading 5 year warranty, without any mileage limits.

Upon closer inspection the New Generation Hyundai i10 boasts an array of well thought out interior features creating an ambience of class and refinement. The interior is roomy up front and with easy access to the rear thanks to the five-door body style. There’s plenty of space to relax, cramped legs and limited headroom is simply not an issue. The rear seats fold to offer additional space, adding to the versatile nature of this adaptable car.

Once inside and on the move, the New Generation Hyundai i10’s grown-up attitude comes through in spades. This might be a compact city car, but it doesn’t mean you have to compromise on comfort. The car’s suspension is wonderfully compliant, meaning the ride quality is extremely smooth and the chassis unruffled over any road surface. The road-handling is exceptional, and the responsive steering gives you complete control when squeezing into small city gaps.

There are three petrol engines to choose from, including the more eco-minded Blue Drive. Each of these offer excellent performance depending on your driving needs. If you do a few longer distance journeys the optional cruise control is an appealing feature.

If town, urban and country driving makes up the majority of your miles, the efficient 1.0-litre might be for you. It returns 61.4mpg combined with 108g/km CO2 emissions, while the even more frugal Blue Drive motor offers an amazing 65.7mpg with 98g/km CO2, meaning £0 road tax. The 1.2 is still a strong performer when it comes to efficiency, returning 57.6mpg combined with 114g/km CO2.

The way these engines perform is indicative of how upmarket the New Generation Hyundai i10 is. Quiet and refined, it offers many features from the class above at city car prices. Bluetooth with voice recognition, rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, LED daytime running lights, all-round electric windows and heated door mirrors are all available depending on model.

Zipping around town safety is strong too, with six airbags fitted as standard alongside the new, stiffer body shell to improve passenger protection. It has also been designed to absorb more of the impact reducing passenger injuries should the worst happen.

Overall, the New Generation Hyundai i10 is a brilliantly comprehensive all-round city car. With all this, it’s hardly surprising it was named as the overall winner at the Car of the Year 2014 awards.
