The Hyundai i30 Tourer has been awarded a full five-star crash safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP tests.
As you’d expect from Hyundai, the results mean that the i30 Tourer holds the same maximum level of safety as the firm’s other compact family car, the five-door Hyundai i30 Hatchback.
The new generation Hyundai i30 Tourer performed brilliantly in all four areas of Euro NCAP’s rigorous crash testing process, achieving a class-leading score of 90% in the child occupant protection category – in both the 18-month-old and three-year-old assessments.
The car scored highly again in the protection of adult passengers, also attaining 90% and receiving high praise for its strong resistance to whiplash thanks to its clever front headrest design.
The new Hyundai i30 Tourer also recorded a great result for pedestrian protection. It’s clear to see that although the i30 family has been designed with a distinct focus on style, safety has not been compromised by any means.
The Hyundai i30 Tourer was commended for “maintaining maximum points for the protection to pedestrian’s legs provided by the bumper.”
There’s plenty of safety technology crammed into the vehicle, too. In the fourth area Euro NCAP record scores in – the safety assist category – the Hyundai i30 Tourer received a superb rating of 86%, thanks to its front and rear seatbelt reminder system, standard-fit Electronic Stability Programme and other sophisticated electronic driver aids – including ABS with Brake Assist and Hyundai’s vehicle stability management.
Six airbags (front, front side and curtain) and rear ISOfix anchorage points for child seats also come fitted as standard, ensuring peace of mind for when you’re carrying passengers – especially little ones that require car seats.
The new generation Hyundai i30 Tourer is the latest model from the Korean manufacturer to achieve the top rating of five stars from the independent vehicle crash testers at Euro NCAP, following in the footsteps of the original Hyundai i30, the i20, ix35, ix20, i40, Veloster and the Hyundai i30 Tourer’s sister vehicle, the i30 Hatchback.
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor Europe, Allan Rushforth:
“The five-star rating shows our commitment to developing cars specifically for Europe and providing the highest levels of safety for Hyundai customers.
“Our strategy of making cars ‘in Europe, for Europe’ continues to prove successful, attracting new consumers to Hyundai’s design, quality, safety and value.”
And on top of the safety comes great value for money – Hyundai’s unlimited mileage Five Year Triple Care warranty comes standard on all vehicles.
