We turned our attention to the new 2014 Hyundai i10 as part of our Friday Focus last week, highlighting it was very possibly the best car Hyundai has ever built – and that’s no mean feat given the firm’s current range.
It’s unsurprising, then, that the Korean compact hatchback has just picked up the prestigious Car Buyer Car of the Year and Best City Car awards in the annual Car Buyer ceremony. Quite a result for the little Hyundai.
We remarked on its refinement. So did the judges. We told you about the increased comfort and passenger space. The panel noticed, too. We also pointed out the extra kit you now get as standard. Guess what? Car Buyer’s scorers picked that up as well.
Editor-in-chief, Auto Express and Car Buyer, Steve Fowler:
“The Hyundai i10 is small in stature and huge in talent. It offers so much for such a small price with real big car attributes – it’s well built, spacious and with loads of luxury kit on board. It makes you wonder why you ever need to pay more for a new car?”
Coming from a man who tests just about every new car on sale, that speaks volumes.
It wasn’t just the 2014 Hyundai i10 that achieved success in the awards either. The stunning Hyundai Santa Fe off-roader also picked up a gong for Best Large SUV, beating off competition from other brands including Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
President and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK, Tony Whitehorn, on the firm’s success:
“We are tremendously proud that the New Generation Hyundai i10 has been crowned Car Buyer’s ‘Car of the Year’ for 2014. This is Hyundai’s second major Car Buyer win after the Hyundai i30 received the same accolade in 2012. This award is a true testament to just how far the Hyundai brand has come in recent years.”
Picking up two Car of the Year titles in just three years, as well as numerous other wards along similar lines to the Hyundai Santa Fe, the brand is going from strength-to-strength in the UK.
Just like the i10 and every other car Hyundai sells, the Santa Fe comes with the Korean firm’s industry leading Five Year Triple Care unlimited mileage warranty, including five years free roadside assistance, five years unlimited mileage warranty coverage and fives years annual vehicle health checks to ensure your car is in first class condition and your peace of mind.
The 2014 Hyundai i10 goes on sale in the UK on 30 January 2014, so keep an eye out on the blog for more news on our test drive demonstrator. We’ll let you know when it’s at our Hyundai showroom in Weybridge, Surrey.
