The new Hyundai i30 Hatchback has been voted ‘Best Value Hatchback’ in the annual Practical Caravan, The Camping & Caravanning Club & What Car? Towcar Awards 2012.
The awards put a number of vehicles through a series of gruelling test to find Britain’s best towcar, including high-speed stability, braking, emergency lane changing, hill starting and overall practicality.
The Hyundai i30 added another gong to its already sizable collection in part thanks to its maximum towing capacity of 1,500kg – a feature that came in for particular commendation by the judging panel.
With a range of torquey and efficient turbodiesel engines the i30 is ideally suited as a caravan towing vehicle.
A five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating ensures safety levels are strong, while a maximum 1,316-litre luggage capacity gives more than enough space and practicality.
According to Nigel Donnelly, Haymarket Outdoor Leisure group’s Editor in Chief – Digital and judging panel member, “We’d happily tow long distances behind the wheel of the Hyundai i30. It has a very agreeable ride and is a stable towcar.
“There’s plenty of cabin space and the boot swallowed all of our holiday luggage. It also comes with a five-year warranty and five years’ breakdown cover which, together with the keen list price and long list of standard kit, earns it the ‘Best Value Hatchback’ award.”
