Both the Suzuki Baleno and Suzuki Ignis have been nominated in the new ‘Urban Car’ category.
Vehicles in this new category have to fulfil a certain criteria to prove the small-car credentials. Design wise, the vehicles must be under 4-metres long, and be suitable for everyday use in an urban environment. At 3.99-metres and 3.7-metres respectively, the Baleno and Ignis easily make the grade. But what about their urban capabilities?
With both the Baleno and Ignis featuring Suzuki’s new SHVS technology, they offer drivers great power without compromising on their low emissions and fuel economy. This makes them perfect for savvy city motorists. Additionally, both vehicles are equipped with the a plethora of on-board technology.
The Baleno includes Radar Brake Support, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera, satellite navigation and HID headlights to aid stress-free city driving. And for driver convienience and entertainment, the Baleno is kitted out with the very best – Bluetooth connectivity, DAB digital radio and automatic climate control air conditioning.
In the Ignis, drivers will have the very latest that Suzuki has to offer in on-board technology. The mini crossover is equipped with stereo cameras, which monitor the distance between the vehicle and its surroundings. This technology provides the basis for the Dual Camera Brake Support (DCBS), Lane Departure Warning and Weaving Alert. And as you’d expect from the Suzuki, the Ignis will be jam-packed with in-car techonology, including touch screen display, Bluetooth connectivity and app integration.
The top three finalists for the 2017 World Car of the Year will be announced at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, with the overall winner being crowned at the 2017 New York Auto Show. It’s safe to say that Suzuki is in with a great chance with these two striking vehicles.
